When the GT500 leaked a few months back, it sent the entire automotive industry on its head. Last week, Ford released even more details that caused an even bigger commotion.
“The all-new 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 will produce 760 horsepower and 625 lb. -ft of torque, making it the most powerful street-legal Ford ever- with the most power- and torque-dense supercharged production V8 engine in the world.”
Engine & Performance
Offering a 7-speed dual clutch transmission, its claimed that the 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 can run the quarter mile in less than 11 seconds reaching 60 MPH on 3.5 seconds.
With all these stats, this makes this the 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 the fastest production Mustang ever. EVER.

Exterior
The GT500 exterior is much like the leaked photos back in October. Although based largely off the GT350 platform, the GT500 features an aggressive new front fascia. The GT500 has blacked out the area of the bumper over in front of the crash support that coincides with the massive functional hood vent, aggressive splitter and black wire-mesh upper and lower grilles. But the exterior design of this vehicle isn’t just for looks.
Ford announced that the GT500 was meticulously designed for better airflow and aerodynamics. This baby can produce up to 550 pounds of downforce which allows it to travel faster through a corner by increasing the vertical force on the tires, thus creating more grip.
Its just fancy talk for faster on a racetrack.
The defining features you expect to see on numerous GT500s are:
- 20” flow-formed gloss black wheels (or optional 20” carbon fiber wheels)

- Revised rear fascia
- Larger exhaust tips

Interior
Is it the alcantara on the steering wheel? Maybe the carbon fiber instrumental panel or the door panels in faux suede with accent stitching? The 2020 GT500 has several touches that sets apart this model from the rest of the Mustang lineup. Not to mention, you also have a beautiful optional two-tone Recaro seats with the iconic Shelby snake stitched right in the back of the seat!
The biggest change though is the gear shifter. Similar to the newer Ford Fusions, Edges, and Explorers you’ll catch the new gear selector dial. WOAH.
